The Music Ministry of First Baptist Church of West Mifflin, consisting of the Praise and Worship team, Adult Choir, Youth Choir, Male Chorus and Musicians, provides music for church services and other special occasions.
Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Psalm 30:4
Music is a vital part of Christian worship. Its purpose is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through song and to encourage believers in their walk with Christ. The aim of the Music Ministry is not to entertain, but rather to lead the congregation in corporate praise and worship.
"But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me".
Psalm 13:5-6
Music Ministry members are encouraged to participate in Bible Study and Church School to grow spiritually and to better understand the Word that we are first called to live and then sing about. Effective music ministry starts in the heart of the believer and with every member committed to giving of their time and talent, willing to be used by the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.
"It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord". II Chronicles 5:13
